autumn 2025

When does Autumn officially start? It all depends on which calendar you follow...

According to the meteorological calendar, the first autumn day is Monday 1st September 2025. However, the astronomical calendar is based on the position of the Sun in relation to the Earth and changes each year, known as the autumn equinox. This year, it falls on Monday 22nd September 2025. In the meantime, we find ourselves with bumper crops of fruits of all kinds - from hedgerow to garden orchard. And lots of Re-Betchworth Autumn activities coming up...

  • Betchworth Repair Café returns courtesy of the fabtastic Dorking Repair Café team of experts plus our own Re-Betchworth volunteers. And it’s free! Help stop repairable items going into landfill - and save money! Bring your broken stuff to the Betchworth Repair Café on Saturday 20 September, 10.30 – 1.00pm at Betchworth Village Hall, RH3 7DF. Don’t chuck it – fix it!
  • Re-Betchworth's fourth AppleFest coming soon! Make sure you’ve got the 4 October AppleFest in your calendar now. Join us for a fun-packed afternoon at Betchworth Village Hall from 1 to 4pm. There's a lot going on - check it out here.
  • Group visits to Knepp - Our recent 'exclusive to Re-Betchworth' visit to Knepp was fantastic. We'll be posting a report on the day very soon...
  • 4Bs Biodiversity park - what is it and how can you get involved? Take a look at the 4Bs Biodiversity dedicated website for more information.
  • Encouraged by the interest in fungi, we’re looking to start a seasonal series of guided foraging walks.  Maybe we finish each with a plant-based cooking evening too?

We’ll also continue our series of Zoom talks, bringing in experts to share their knowledge on-line.

You’ll hear more in future newsletters plus the occasional email alert from us. And if one or other of the above particularly floats your boat, let us know here. All feedback and ideas welcome!
