Strictly Apples 2025 – Re-B AppleFest Bake Off
Claim your place in our ever-hungry village’s Hall of Fame! Can you improve on Karen van der Kemp’s 2024 winning cake!
What’s your speciality? Apple tart, a traybake, a strudel or simply the most delicious apple cake whose recipe is a closely guarded family secret? Enter your (or your grand-mother’s?) apple-themed baking speciality and walk away with a big smile on your face, maybe the winner’s rosette too!
Help raise funds for our Charity. After the blind judging, you can donate your bake for others to enjoy at the Apple Fest while raising money for the Re-Betchworth Charity - or take it home for your own enjoyment.
What you need to know - the details....
Each individual entry must be accompanied by a card stating:
-
name of baker
-
contact details
-
age
-
your chosen post-judging instruction: donate to Re-B, or take home?
-
a list of all ingredients (not just the potentially allergy-threatening ones)
Once you’ve decided to have a go, text
Jackie Ellison on 07968 324 522. It helps the organisers enormously if they have an idea of entry numbers.
Reminder
Your delicious baking speciality must contain and be inspired by the humble apple!
Timings - on the day
All entries to be handed in at Betchworth Village Hall between 10 and 11am on AppleFest day (4 October) so we can arrange the display for our judge, Pebblecoombe WI President, Mary Clark. Judging will begin at 12.
Bake Display & Tasting
AppleFest opens at 1pm. Do come back to see how you’ve done and enjoy the fun. All entries will be on display for one hour and entries donated for Re-B charity fund-raising will be on display until 1.45 (and then we get to eat them!).
